Attention Writers and Editors all over Japan!
Nipponscape is looking for writers, editors, and translators to join us on our site. We’re particularly interested in collaborating with writers living in the outlying areas of the country. Let the world know about the unsung heroes living in your corner of Japan and help your community at the same time. Guidelines for participation are as follows:

Participation guidelines and benefits:
1)Remuneration = \0
We are personally starting this project with zero capital, basing it all on nothing but sheer effort. Sorry!
2)Promote Yourself and Your Community
By publishing articles you’re written, it’s a chance to show off your skills and promote your own name. Also this is a fabulous chance to bring regional things and people to Tokyo, Japan, and the world! Please, tell the world about those wonderful little-known local characters dwelling in the countryside.
3)Writer/Editor’s Ad
For any article that is selected to be published on the site, we’ll give you some advertising space, an “Editor’s Ad” (coming soon). It will be a very well-placed spot, where the reader’s eyes naturally fall. When you think about the long period of time your article will be available to the public, and with it your advertising space, you can imagine how many readers will see it. All participating editors, writers, and translators will be free (within limits) to sell this valuable advertising space to whomever they want. For those who don’t wish to or can’t find someone to buy the space, the space can also be used as a sort of message board, for personal promotion (advertise your own site!) or a message to the world (ie. “War is over” etc).
4)Writer/Editor’s Choice Market (coming soon!)
You will receive a space in the “Editors Choice Market” (opening this spring). There will be no control from above. It will simply be a boutique shop of all the things we truly love, selling Japan-wide as well as overseas. The role of the writer is naturally one of the observer, but don’t you feel a little left out sometimes? Surely there are a lot of people who would like to try their hand at a bit of commerce. Talk to the people you cover and confront a new side of a business that you normally only write about.
5) The Rough Diamond Publishing Method
Articles selected for publication will be eligible to be made into books through the Nipponscape-made “Rough Diamond Publishing Method” (coming soon). The Rough Diamond Publishing Method is a way of making simple books. Having a book of your own work to use as a sort of calling card is surely the ultimate advantage for editors, writers, and translators, don’t you think? We’re planning on offering very reasonable royalty rates compared to larger publishers.

We are our own capital!
We’re starting this with absolutely zero initial financial investment. If this sets your business spirit on fire, great! If it gives your sense of fun a tickle, wonderful! Everyone can get involved in his or her own way. By putting our energy into articles that we really believe in, we can throw a few stones at the all-too-familiar “is it reportage or is it advertising” style of shady journalism.
